If you are one of the people who are repeatedly scared by stories like this, remember that there are people there just filling your head over and over with nonsense. Day after day you are reading and believing nonsense over and over.

It is like going to a school but a school where the teachers don't tell you true things but tell you lots of nonsense over and over.

Imagine you went to a school where the teachers told you every day that the Eiffel tower is in New York, that the Statue of Liberty is in Paris, that Mexico is the capital of Brazil, that India is south of Australia etc etc.

You would get very confused wouldn't you?

No wonder people get confused by the amount of nonsense they are shown by social media algorithms every day, if they start clicking on stories like this

SO WHY DO YOU SEE THINGS IN YOUR NEWS FEED IF THEY AREN’T TRUE - JUST THE ALGORITHM SHOWING YOU THINGS LIKE THE ONES ALREADY IN YOUR HISTORY

First, why do people make videos like this?

It is just mischievous people telling scary or silly stories to try to get attention. Or religious people who convince themselves FALSELY that they are receiving messages from God.

Combine that with algorithms that show you things:

- NOT because it is true

- NOT because you need to know them

- ONLY because they look like things you clicked on before

- OR because they are things that other people clicked on after watching the same videos you watched.

That is all. It is just showing you things that are like things you watched before or clicked on or liked or read before.

If you read and watch lots of things that say the world is flat, the algorithm will fill your news feed with people telling you the world is flat.

It is NOT THE TRUTH.

For those of you who read and believe stuff like this every day in your social media feed - on TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc - this is what those algorithms are teaching you

It’s like a teacher teaching you that the Eiffel tower is in New York and that there are flying pigs outside the window
