Trump can't build a prison for 30,000 in Guantanamo bay - Congress would never vote to build a pointless $3 billion+ facility - largest in the world - just deflecting from his failed Federal freeze
This is NOT going to happen. He is not serious, just trying to grab the media with an outrageous claim to distract from his failed funding freeze. The Guantanamo bay prison can only accommodate a few hundred.
A prison for 30,000 would cost around $3.75 billion. No way Trump can find that funding when 3 Republicans together with all the Democrats in the House can stop any bill. Many Republicans are very cost conscious and will never vote for an expensive vanity project for Trump that serves no useful purpose.
It would be three times the size of Cook County Jail, the largest single site prison in the USA.
It would also beat the current Guinness world record record for the largest prison in the world (22,000 for a prison in Turkey).
It doesn’t make sense as a proposal. He often says / does things like this to get his failures out of the news - in this case the news about the astonishing about-face of his attempt to freeze all federal funding. For details see my:
There is no way House Republicans who are super cautious about costs would vote for funding of $3.75 billion for an unnecessary new prison to satisfy Trump's vanity.
He has a majority of only 220 : 215. This means 3 votes against, or 2 against and one abstain are enough to sink any bill. It will shrink to 2017 : 215 for the first few months until he gets it back up to capacity with new elections. This means one vote against will sink any bill (there is n o tie break)
Indeed Trump is not going to be able to get much through by way of funding without help from Democrats. He will also need Democrat help to raise the debt limit later this spring as he can count on at least 47 Republicans in the house to vote against any debt limit rise based on the ones that have always voted against raising the debt limit for any bill passed in Congress. 25 of them will just vote against any debt limit rise on principle not just for final bills but always.

At that rate a 30,000 bed prison would cost 30,000*125,000 = $3.75 billion for a rough first estimate.

Reconciliation there means a big bill in Congress which the House has to pass which is finance focused and can't be filibustered in the Senate.
However there are several dozen Republicans who vote against any attempt to raise the debt limit. Many Republicans are opposed to anything that will add to costs.
Even when back to strength the majority will be only 220 : 215 which means that 3 voting against is enough to turn it to 217: 218. Or 2 against and one abstains 217 : 217.
There's no way the Republicans by themselves could pass a bill to build a 30,000 bed prison at costs of billions of dollars.
Also notice this is immediately after his spending freeze failed. Trump says dramatic impossible things to deflect from his failures.

This is for anyone worried about Trump becoming a dictator or crashing the US economy etc etc. No those things won't happen. The US economy is very robust. It has a strong constitution and strong protection of rights.

If you have got scared by any of this, health professionals can help. Many of those affected do get help and find it makes a big difference.
They can’t do fact checking, don’t expect that of them. But they can do a huge amount to help with the panic, anxiety, maladaptive responses to fear and so on.
Also do remember that therapy is not like physical medicine. The only way a therapist can diagnose or indeed treat you is by talking to you and listening to you. If this dialogue isn’t working for whatever reason do remember you can always ask to change to another therapist and it doesn’t reflect badly on your current therapist to do this.

I don't think the goal is to build a prison.
I think it's to achieve a "final solution to the illegal immigrant question" through a swift program of "resettlement."
The prison will be privately-contracted, to avoid Constitutional issues.
The money will come from classified budgets, that Congress can't review.
The guards will be all those "very fine people" that the Bloated Yam just pardoned, who all need jobs.
The "resettlement" will be accomplished through whatever today's biochemists have created to do a better job than Zyklon B, along with the usual crematoria.
The hardest thing I can see is explaining why the prisoners were not flown back to their original countries.
Are we sure the goal is to build a prison?
The large concentration camps from WW2 had tens of thousands of prisoners each. One example is Sachsenhausen outside Berlin.
